Solution
DG–Solar Synchronisation
Run solar together with your diesel generator, safely. Protect the DG from reverse power and save diesel.
The problem
When the grid fails, the diesel generator (DG) starts and your solar inverters keep running on the DG supply. If solar makes more power than the load needs, the extra power flows back into the DG. A DG cannot take reverse power: it can trip, run unstable or get damaged. Running a DG at very low load is also bad for it.
Many sites simply switch solar off whenever the DG runs. That is safe, but you lose all the free solar energy during power cuts, and burn more diesel.
How it works
What you get
- No reverse power into the DG
- Less diesel burnt, because solar shares the load
- The DG runs at a healthy load
- No need to switch solar off when the DG runs
- Automatic: nobody has to watch the panel
- Control runs at site, even when the internet is down
Before the first DG run
During commissioning we check that every inverter accepts and follows the limit command. For the first DG run after setup, keep someone at the DG panel and make sure real load is switched on before solar reconnects. This simple check protects your DG.
What we need from you
- DG rating in kVA, and how many DGs the site has
- Inverter make, model and kW
- Whether a meter with RS485 output is already fitted at the DG panel
DG–Solar Sync: run solar safely with your generator
When the grid is down and the DG runs, the DG-sync controller limits solar so the generator always keeps a safe minimum load: no reverse power, less diesel, full solar again when the grid returns. Hindi voice.
